Fails when using Gmail as "mailto" link client

I've found a bug that (for me, anyway) happens 100% of the time. I have Gmail configured as my default mail client. If I'm in a website that has an email hyperlink, it will fire up Gmail, auto-insert the mailto: email address into the To: box, and allow me to compose and send an email. But wait - my stylish signature is missing, as are the buttons for "edit signature," "reinsert," and "options." After sending the mail, if I fire up Gmail from my brower, the same thing is true - no signature, and no control buttons for the signature add-on.

The only way to restore the signature functionality is to open the Add-ons dialog, disable Blank Canvas, restart the browser, then go through the same process again, only this time, ENabling it. Then everything works fine, as long as I don't click on a mailto email hyperlink.

For the record, here are the plugins I have installed/active:

  • Beter Gmail 2 (using the Gmail Redesigned skin)
  • Blank Canvas Gmail Signatures
  • CacheViewer
  • Clear Cache Buton
  • ColorZilla
  • CustomizeGoogle
  • Download Statusbar
  • DownThemAll
  • dragdropupload
  • FlashGot
  • Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer
  • LinkedIn Companion for Firefox
  • Locationbar²
  • NoScript
  • Popup ALT Attribute
  • Sothink Web Video Downloader for Firefox

I've had no other problems with the plugin - and it seems to work fine (otherwise) with Better Gmail 2.

Thanks!

Brad,

I think you are referring to the "tear out" mode where a new compose window opens up to allow you to compose messages without having to go through Gmail's inbox. This new window uses an entirely different document architecture and causes the add-on not to function. While I do plan on adding support for this, it will require adding lots of additional listeners, and will probably also require a base re-write in order to fix the whole multiple tabs/windows bug. It will probably be a long while before I can get this addressed given my other obligations, but it is something on the list.

Thank you for providing such great detail.
