First of all, this add-on is God sent.... ooooops... sorry... it's Jerome sent...

Anyway... I just added it a few days ago to use with Gmail... and here's what happens (or doesn't happen..)

I have 3 scenarios....

1- On hitting Reply and Forward, I can see the BC Menu (default, edit signature, reinsert, options) and the correct signature is placed on the email. In other words, all works great!!

2- On hitting Reply and Forward, I can see the BC Menu and it does NOT add any signature to the email, so I have to keep clicking Reinsert.

3- On hitting Reply and Forward, I CANNOT see the BC Menu at all!!! It just disappears!! And no signature is added to the email.

So it's always a hit or miss... I never know what the scenario will be, but it's doesn't work more often than it works.

I already tried deleting Cache, refreshing the page, signing out and back of Gmail... it will still behave at random with the 3 scenarios above... I even did a test... I clicked Reply 10 times on different conversations, and the result was 4 times it worked perfectly (scenario 1) and 6 times it didn't work (varied between scenarios 2 and 3)

I read here about disabling all other add-ons... Did that... Left ONLY BC (actually also disabled BC and then enabled it just by itself) and it didn't resolve the problem.

I also read about a problem of Gmail being opened in other tabs. Well, closed ALL tabs and just opened the one with Gmail and BC still works on and off.

Oh... forgot to say that with Compose, my test of opening Compose 10 times in a row, BC worked just fine all 10 times. (scenario 1)

I use my Gmail for my business and use Reply more often than Compose and spent the day today, with a ton of emails to respond, using the Reinsert button several times or refreshing the page, signing out and back in, etc... until I gave up and had my signature on Notepad on the 2nd monitor, so I could copy and paste when the BC Menu disappeared and I could not click on Reinsert.

So before giving up for good (hope not, I NEED this add-on so bad), I came here to post a message.

Yes, I have 4 different ones. I actually do NOT use myusername@gmail.com address at all... I forward emails from my own domain into Gmail and then use the Send As.

But remember one thing after seeing that I have lots of add-ons.. I disabled them ALL, and BC still doesn't work right.

Hey Alexandra,

Thank you for taking the time to run so many tests and provide so much information. You came to a dead-on conclusion in that BC sigs only works for the first time you hit reply/forward in each thread. If you hit reply, then discard, then reply again, it will not work. The reason for this is te nature of the triggers that Gmail sends out that I can listen for. When you enter a thread, the add-on can tell and sets up a listener for the appearance of the compose box, which is actually an iframe. When the iframe is found for the first time (i.e. when you first hit Reply/Forward, it inserts the signature and stops listening for the box.)

I spent some time trying to figure out a way to listen for the dissapearance of the message box, but it proved much more difficult than I had hoped, and I haven't been able to get it working yet. I am aware of this though, and it bugs me almost as much as it is frustrating you, so it's definitely something I'm (slowly) working on. It will hopefully be fixed for the next release, although I'm trying to hold off on it until the Firefox add-on site brings v1.11.07 out of experimental mode (which may unfortunately be quite a while).

BC?

Jerome, just letting you know that what Tom suggested didn't work.

I can only get BC to work on a thread/conversation, only ONCE at a time. If I need to respond or forward more than once inside the same thread, then I need to get out of it (go to the main folder/label) and then go back into the thread again... which sometimes I do several times a day. Kind of annoying and time consuming, but I am still very glad that I found BC!

So I really think it has to do with what you said about the "listening" thing....

I do hope you find a fix for it someday! Please keep me posted!
